Scholarships and Auditions
In 2024 the Arkansas Educational Theatre Association, in partnership with colleges and universities across the country, presented students with
$2.1 million in scholarship opportunities to colleges across the United States.
Each year at the Arkansas State Thespian Festival students have the opportunity to audition for colleges across the country and earn scholarships. Arkansas Thespians are proud to be a leading scholarship opportunity for students in our state that consistently award millions of dollars to help fund student education in the theatrical arts. Students interested in participating in the 2024-2025 AR EdTA Scholarship and Audition process should read the Scholarship and Audition Guidelines linked above. This year all auditions will be held virtually using the Open Water platform. If you have questions please email the Scholarship Coordinator, Courtney Shepard, or call 817-378-6899.

The Nancy Brown Student Leadership Scholarship
Nancy Brown is the former director of the International Thespian Festival. For approximately two decades she served as the EdTA/Thespian Society adult liaison for the International Student Officers. She was their direct link to the home office and took care of their needs in terms of training, budgets and travel. Through her guidance, she and the adult liaison volunteers like David Grantham, Rene Denney, and Terry McGonigle were responsible for the training of thousands of Thespian student leaders across the country, who have gone on to become strong advocates of theatre education. Nancy Brown's vision for the role of student leaders in the EdTA and Thespian organizations was instrumental in changing the image of those high school students to professional, powerful young adults with much to share.
